personal metaphor: as volnerable as a unicorn

As vulnerable as a unicorn: I choose this metaphor because it describe me when I'm first meet. When I first meet someone or meet new people I'm not very "Adera" like. I'm more quite and shy and that leaves me vulnerable to people. I choose to be a unicorn because when people see or hear of unicorns they think of happy, magical creatures, that live in beautiful lands far far away but really how do we know this. We get one image or idea of what we what them to be and that's what they are. Unicorns are the most vulnerable magical creatures because they are what we say they are. It doesn't really mean that that's what they are but what we want them to be. So to me, me and unicorns are very similar because we are both vulnerable to the world and its ideas of what it want us to.
I think that I did a great job on turning myself into a unicorn. It really look believable to me. I also think that my sky is really cool. It has that magical feel to it. I think that I could have made my background more magical. I wanted to add more plants to feel the picture more. It was very difficult making myself into a unicorn. It was hard to make it look so realistic. It was also hard making the background look like one picture, it's like five different picture combined. I absolutely love this picture. I think that it could have been worked on a bit more abut over all I love it.

shutter speed

In both pictures we are in a dark room with no lights on. We set our camera up so that we could see ourselves and capture the movement. In the first picture we increased our shutter speed so that we could capture the movement of light. In the second picture we set our shutter speed to ten seconds, we lowered the ISO and increased the aperture. It was really fun playing with the shutter speed because it created some really cool affects. Shutter speed is basically how long the shutter will stay open, the shutter could be refered to as like a door. Shutter speed interactes with ISO and aperture by determining how much time they have to affect the picture with their functions.

ISO: film speed

ISO is a function on the camera that allows you to choose how much or how fast you want the given light to enter the film of the camera. It is used to enhance the light given oppose to creating it by using flash. The difference between flash and ISO is flash adds light to the entire picture and ISO uses the light already given. You would choose ISO over flash when you want to capture the light already there, like if you wanted to take a picture of your christmas tree ISO would allow you to capture the light from the lights and use it to brighten the rest of the picture, oppose to flash that would just add light to everything. You have to be careful when using ISO in bright places because the higher the ISO the more light comes in and the brighter your picture would be.

fill in flash experiment

Fill in flash is when you use flash to lighten up your subject when the background creates a shadow. For example, if you were to take a picture with your subject facing away from the sun, the light from the sun would create a shadow. So you would use fill in flash to brighten your subject, or take away the shadow. The photos of Luis are a good example of fill in flash. The sun is really bright but it creates a shadow over his face, so I used fill in flash to brighten it.

SURREALISM: Lions and Daisies

Long ago there lived two lions. Now these lions are not any lions they were lions of happiness and sadness. Every where they went they would bring happiness and take away the sadness. But they weren't always happy themselves. They secretly were very sad because they had to carry all of the sadness they took from everyone and everything else. Their only true happiness came just from the knowledge that they made everyone else happy. One day they laid down and had a long talking about their own happiness. They both knew that they wanted to bring happiness to everyone but they also knew that they couldn't carry any more sadness. They both happily decided to do something for themselves, they would just leave. Now this was hard for both the lions because making things happy was what they've done since they were cubes but it was the best thing to do for them.
So they walked for miles and miles until they came across a beautiful house on a hill in the near distance. At first they were afraid to go any closer because of the dark sky. They also noticed that the house and hill was lifeless and everything seemed a little odd. The sky was very dark and cloudy but no rain fell and that’s why the house and hill was lifeless. There also was a river that ran up the hill but didn't help the hill go anything and the lions found it very odd. The lions soon warmed up to the place and figured no one would find them here and they didn't have to make any thing else happy, except themselves. so they continued to walk.
As soon as they stepped on to the hill a small white cloud come right above the lions and began to rain. These made the lions extremely happy because they both knew what to do with the rain. So every day they walk around the hill together bringing water to the entire hill. Soon after they started watering the hill it began to bloom beautiful flower and around the house bushes and trees began to go also. This mad the lions so happy that they always kept a smile on their face, even though it always rained on them.

Surreal Practice Tutorials

We prepared for our surreal project by practicing different techniques we may want to use in our projects. In this tutorial we learned the value of layering textures using blending options to create an atmosphere with dream like qualities.(http://www.photoshop-garden.com/view_tut.php?id=76Credit: Stock: hbrush.com Texture: moonchilde-stock.deviantart.com, 99mockingbirds.chanlu.orgText brush: shyndel.deviantart.com)
I learned that you could put a lot of very different things such as overlays, oppacities, patterns, and colors together and create something very different but not to crazy looking.

We then followed this tutorial found at http://www.voidix.com/eye_manipulation.html to give us ideas and practice combining images, reversing natural laws, transforming objects and using Photoshop to create a realistic surrealistic scene. I really liked the eye come though or out of the wall. I think that it's very cool that photoshop allows us to create thing like this.

graduation

I think that because i used a different picture other than that big Pegasus my cover as a more uniqueness to it. I think that maybe mine had to much going on. I think that it wound have been a tad bit better with less things going on. I think it was easier to use than i first thought. Graphic design allows you to do so much, it was really fun using it although it took a lot of time. Well the combination of words and graphics are the most important aspect of graphing design. I think that you did a great job on instruction for this project.

alternate program: Si Se Puede

I think that I broke up my space well and also I think that I did a very good job on the choose of font and placement. I think that I could have done a little more, my cover is simple so maybe I could have add something more outstanding. It might not seem like this would be the right answer but I struggled with the gradient the most. It was hard getting it where it it is now because I wanted mostly purple but a nice brake though it, so that was the hardest part.
I think I did better on this program because I felt really comfortable and confident with this one.

color effects

I really like this effect because it blurs everyone except myself. It was really cool playing with the effects.

frame

I really like my close up better because it expresses my goofier side. In most of my picture I look sad or I have a more artistic face. This picture shows the everyday me. I think that the way I captured the shadows created a very artistic feel to the picture. I think that maybe if I myself looked more artistic it would add more to the picture.

color!

I like both pictures but they could have been better. My first picture is really cool and the pose really goes with the background but the background itself could have been brighter. I really wanted the colors to show better in the photo. In my second pose i really like the lighting and all the leading lines but the pose itself could have been better. I really was stuck because i wanted that spot but i didn't know what to do with myself, so that was my fault that it wasn't as good as it could have been. In the future i think that I'll take more time in putting together better backgrounds with better poses.

balance: asymmetrical vs. symmetrical

Symmetrical balance is when you could cut the picture in half and it would be the same on each side. It makes it easier to balance a photo using symmetry. Asymmetrical balance is when it won't be the same on each side if it was cut down the middle but it's balanced. Asymmetrical balance is harder because you have to balance the photo yourself. Visual balance is very important because if it's not balanced the entire picture is thrown off, it just doesn't like right if it isn't balanced. It also can be a distraction.

group collaboration

It was really hard getting us to go with the timer. It wasn't extreme hard but when you're working with so many people you really have to be on the same page with everyone. I also think the timing was somewhat difficult because if you weren't on exactly you looked off in the photo. I would have a more simpler background because these background took away from the picture and our group.
